It has been a while since we updated the website due to the COVID-19 epidemic. We have all been hunkered down staying safe. Hopefully this epidemic will be past us soon and life will return to normal.
The Club is in the process of planning short term, medium term and long term goals. Your input is appreciated. Email [email protected] with suggestions to be discussed at upcoming club meetings.
Once the COVID-19 threat has passed, the Springhill club will be holding an in-person technician class training class to get your ham license. Watch the Springhill Press for dates and times to be determined. Tests are offered in Shreveport and Texarkana once per month. Contact David Smith at [email protected] for information about taking your test. But you don’t have to wait to take an in-person class to get your license. The Technician class study guide is available for purchase from the American Radio Relay League at www.arrl.org . We highly recommend this study guide. This is the book we would use in our class to teach you. Most of us got our license on our own without attending a class. The study guide makes it easy. In addition to a lot of information on various ham rules and topics, it has the exact question pool and the exact multiple choice answers that will be on the test. You just don’t know which 30 or so questions will be on the test from the pool of questions in the book. But after seeing the exact questions and exact answers in the study guide, and a little study, you should have no problem passing the technician entry level test to get your license.
